After undergoing surgery to remove blood clots from his leg on Tuesday, Colorado coach Deion Sanders was back on the practice field Wednesday.

His son, Deion Sanders Jr., posted a video of Sanders standing on the field as the Buffaloes practiced in their indoor facility. His return to the field came less than 24 hours after the operation, which was chronicled in a video posted on YouTube by Well Off Media.

It was the latest in a string of health issues for Sanders in recent years. He dealt with blood clots while at Jackson State in 2021, leading to the amputation of two toes, and ahead of his first season in Boulder in 2023, Sanders missed Pac-12 media day as he underwent a procedure to remove more blood clots.

The procedure was the 16th surgery Sanders has undergone in recent years. It also came just months after he was away from the team during this past offseason as he received treatment for bladder cancer.

Sanders revealed his latest health issue following Saturday's loss to TCU. He coached without a shoe on his left foot during the second half, telling the media after the game that he was "hurting like crazy" and feared he had more blood clots.

His future at Colorado seems murky given his recurring health problems, but Sanders is already back on the practice field as he prepares to lead his team as it searches for an upset against a ranked Iowa State team at home on Saturday.
