**Kingston Man Discovers $75 Million Lottery Win While in Drive-Thru** A Kingston man learned he was a multimillionaire while waiting for his morning coffee. David Hatt's $75 million win from the Lotto Max draw on August 19 is the largest in Ontario lottery history and the second largest in Canadian lottery history. On August 18, Hatt was on his way to the grocery store when he felt compelled to stop for lottery tickets. "The night before the draw, as I was passing the gas station where I usually get my lottery tickets, something told me to buy a ticket," he said. He purchased a Lotto Max quick pick and did not think much of it afterward. The next morning, while in a drive-thru line, Hatt remembered to check his ticket using the OLG app. Initially, he thought he had won $75,000, which he considered a significant amount. "It wasn’t until I took a closer look that I noticed there were a lot more zeros!" he said. Excited to share the news, Hatt rushed home to tell his wife. "I need you to sit down," he told her before showing her the app. In disbelief, she asked, "Is that $75 million??" Hatt confirmed, shouting, "YES!" The couple plans to use their winnings to support their family and give back to their community. "Of course, we want to support our family, but we also want to give back to our community and assist the most vulnerable in our area," Hatt explained. Hatt has spent the past few months reflecting on how to best utilize the prize money. He has consulted with professionals to help navigate this life-changing win. "My kids are helping me to keep my head in the clouds with them as they dream about their future," he said. One of their top priorities is to purchase their dream home, something they had previously thought was unattainable. "We’ve always had a dream of having that special property or that special house and it was just that, a dream," Hatt noted. They also plan to travel, focusing on small towns and rural areas in Europe. Hatt, who often prioritizes others, mentioned he would treat himself to a new set of golf clubs. "We’re going to be pinching ourselves for years to come!" he added.
