KILLEEN, Texas — The attorney representing the father of Serenity Baker, the 14-year-old fatally stabbed at a Killeen middle school in March 2025, says the family is seeking justice and accountability from all parties who caused or contributed to her death.

Randall Meredith of the Ledger Law Firm in Dallas confirmed he represents Thadius Backer in the wrongful death lawsuit filed against Killeen Independent School District and Evolv Technologies, the manufacturer of the school's metal detectors.

"Through this litigation, we are seeking justice for Serenity and her family, and we aim to hold accountable all those who caused or contributed to the incident that took Serenity's life," Meredith said in a statement Thursday.
