An SUV struck and killed a pedestrian Wednesday on the Black Horse Pike in Atlantic County, authorities said.

Deserie Cincotti was trying to cross Route 322 in Hamilton at about 7:38 p.m., when a westbound SUV hit her near Custard Castle, township police said.

There are no crosswalks in the area.

Cincotti was pronounced dead at the scene. Her age and hometown were not immediately provided.

The driver, a 56-year-old Pittsgrove woman, stopped at the scene. She has not been charged

The crash closed the road for several hours while Hamilton police investigated.
