The IRS has announced new tax brackets, one day after furloughing half its staff due to the ongoing government shutdown.

The standard deduction for those filing single or separately will be bumped to $15,750 for the 2025 tax year. For those filing jointly, it becomes $31,500.

In the 2026 tax year, the standard deduction for singles becomes $16,100, and $32,000 for married couples.

Tax rates will remain the same, with each bracket moving up slightly in order to account for inflation.
