As thousands of teachers enter Day 4 of the provincewide strike, the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) said bargaining will resume next Tuesday.
In a Thursday press release, the ATA said it has initiated a formal bargaining meeting with the Teacher’s Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA) — the official government negotiator — and the mediator on Oct. 14.
“The exploratory discussions that took place since last Friday helped in the development of further negotiation,” the press release said.
The ATA said it is unable to provide further details at this time.
More than 51,000 teachers stepped off the job on Monday after nearly 90 per cent of members voted to reject the memorandum of agreement with the government. The strike is the largest labour action the province has ever seen.
