More than a week after a strike began, bargaining for 51,000 Alberta public and Catholic teachers will resume

Following exploratory discussions last week, the Alberta Teachers’ Association announced their plans to return to the bargaining table.

Next Tuesday, a formal bargaining meeting between the ATA, the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association, and a moderator will take place.

The ATA is unable to provide further details.

Since Monday, more than 51,000 Alberta teachers have been in a provincewide strike, resulting in learning disruptions for approximately 95 per cent of Alberta’s total student population.

This came as a result of teachers overwhelmingly rejecting the tentative agreement made between the ATA and TEBA.
