PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A search is underway for an 18-year-old who was last seen near the Santiam River in Mill City on Wednesday, according to local officials.

Deputies with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office received a report that the teen had been pulled into the river by a current around noon. His identity has not been released to the public.

Witnesses told officials they had tried to rescue the teen, but he did not resurface.

“With this information, multiple deputies began searching the surrounding area and riverbanks on foot, utilizing several drones to aid in the search,” officials said. “The Marion County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with aerial support using additional drones.”
