SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Savannah is moving forward with demolition plans for the Martin Luther King Jr. arena at the Savannah Civic Center, but there’s good news for local ice skaters.

Previously, WTOC reported that recreational Savannah hockey was canceled for both the youth and adult leagues for the time being.

This was because Zawyer sports, the one who runs recreational hockey at the Civic Center, couldn’t come up with an agreement with the city to stay in the MLK arena.

However, new developments have made the future of hockey in Savannah much brighter.
