YOUNGSTOWN An officer with the Youngstown Police Department is suffering non-life-threatening injuries following a shooting on the city's south side Thursday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the City of Youngstown told 21 News an officer suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the area between Midlothian Boulevard and South Avenue Thursday. The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown at this time.
A 21 News crew at the scene saw several police cruisers from multiple agencies, including Youngstown and Boardman, as well as the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office, FBI, ATF and SWAT Team on Southern Boulevard near Rush Boulevard. The road is currently blocked off.
