My husband and I adopted our dog, Tucker, from the Wayne County Humane Society in May of 2024. He was just a few months old at the time, and the shelter had listed him as a Great Pyrenees cross, though admittedly, he didn’t look very much like a Pyrenees.

My husband and I had talked about getting a dog for quite some time. I grew up with dogs all my life. Our last family dog, a Rottweiler named Max, grew to be more than 150 pounds. However, Max was not aware of his size. He insisted he was a lap dog. Max’s sheer size scared many delivery drivers, but he didn’t have a mean bone in his body. Unfortunately, we had to put Max down earlier this year due to an emergency health condition. Our family still misses him.
