This one was right in spirit, but not in specificity. Pete Alonso did indeed have a bounce back season, batting .272/.347/.524 in 709 PA, good for a 141 wRC+ which tied his 2022 mark for the second-best of his career. Baseball Prospectus’ DRC+ metric was even higher on Alonso’s 2025, a 144 mark that set a new career high.
Similarly, Statcast marked 2025 as Pete’s best season with a .399 xwOBA well above his previous career best (.380 in his rookie year in 2019) and which indicated he was actually significantly unlucky this season (caveat – Statcast predicted metrics are flawed since t
