NORTH PORT, Fla. (WFLA) — A couple is facing charges for child neglect after North Port police said they handed a minor two loaded guns and abandoned him on I-75 Wednesday evening to test his "mental fortitude."

In an arrest affidavit, authorities said the couple, Bradley Leon Guerrero Santos, 36, and Rosanella Mendiola Borja, 35, were described as "very religious" and referred to the minor as the "chosen one" before leaving him on the side of the highway.

The minor's exact age was redacted from the report. North Port police found the minor walking along I-75 northbound, near mile marker 179, after receiving a 911 call from a driver reporting a suspicious person.
