WASHINGTON, D.C. – Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said her department is considering purchasing buildings in cities like Chicago and Portland to get around local blocks on law enforcement cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The mayor of Chicago recently signed an order barring federal immigration enforcement to operate out of city-owned property.

The move marks another step forward in the federal government’s crackdown on Democratic cities they allege are brimming with crime.
