John Gibbons has seen this Blue Jays team before — and it wasn’t one of the teams he managed in Toronto.

The former Jays skipper has compared John Schneider’s Blue Jays team of 2025 to the Kansas City Royals of 2015 – the team that knocked his Jays out of the American League Championship Series and went on to win the World Series.

“That K.C. team that beat us, I think they’re very similar to the Blue Jays right now,” Gibbons said in a telephone interview Thursday afternoon. “They had great pitching, they put the ball in play, they played stellar defence and they could really run the bases.
