CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — A 64-year-old East View man became a sex offender on Thursday after admitting that when he restrained a child Oct. 22, 2024, as she was en route to her school bus stop, "I touched her with a sexual motivation."

John Kenneth Arnett Jr. will be sentenced in about 60 days after pleading guilty to misdemeanor unlawful restraint and misdemeanor battery (with sexual motivation).

Because he stipulated to the sexual motivation, he is now required to register as a sex offender for 10 years, starting with whenever he's released from incarceration.

Arnett has been jailed for about 250 days, unable to post the $50,000 10/90 bond.
