INDIANA, USA — Earlier this year, Indiana introduced the new "blackout" license plates. Since then, the popular product has made the state more than $1 million.
The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) announced Thursday that sales of the state’s new black license plate have surpassed 40,000, generating more than $1.3 million.
The revenue from the license plates will be used to reinvest in better BMV services for Hoosiers, according to the BMV.
This new plate, featuring a sleek black background with white text, has quickly become one of Indiana’s most popular plates. In the first month of sales, Indiana drivers purchased nearly 22,000 plates, outpacing first month sales in similar states.
