**Search Continues for Missing 11-Year-Old Boy in Burnaby** Authorities in Burnaby, British Columbia, are actively searching for an 11-year-old boy named Kai Pavlovic, who has been missing since September 26. Police were alerted to his disappearance when they received a request for a well-being check. Investigators have since spoken with family members and believe that Kai may be staying with an unidentified caretaker. "We have reason to believe Kai is staying with a caretaker who police are actively working to identify," said RCMP Cpl. Laura Hirst. She emphasized the importance of community assistance, stating, "We believe there are people who know who this caretaker is, and where they are located, and we are appealing to them to come forward and speak to police. Our No. 1 priority is to find Kai and confirm his safety and well-being." Kai's family, which has ties in both British Columbia and New Zealand, expressed their deep concerns for his safety. They shared their worries with the New Zealand Herald, stating, "Kai has been living in Canada and had limited contact with family overseas the last 12 months. Recently, concern for his well-being was raised by his deceased father’s family and shared with his New Zealand family." The Burnaby RCMP is reaching out to the community for help. They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have interacted with Kai during his daily activities, including playdates, sports, or other extracurricular events. "We would also like to speak to any operators or instructors from sports or activities which Kai has been involved in," Hirst added. The police have been working tirelessly to locate Kai and are employing various techniques to gather information. Hirst urged the public to remain vigilant, saying, "The best way for the public to help us is to keep an eye out for Kai and contact us immediately if they have any information on his whereabouts." Kai is described as approximately five feet tall, with a thin build and brown hair. New photos of him have been released as part of the investigation. In a statement, Kai's family described him as a "bright, curious, outgoing and kind little boy who loves to climb trees, build forts and learn to sail." They added, "Kai’s family in New Zealand love him dearly, and they are asking anyone with any information on Kai’s location to please immediately contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999." Despite the ongoing search, police have not issued an Amber Alert, as they do not believe Kai is in imminent danger. The investigation continues as authorities work to ensure his safe return.
