LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - For the second week in a row, the Monterey Plainsmen (3-3) are bracing up for a game with in-town bragging rights- and Silver Spurs on the line. As for the Westerners, they are ready to put last week’s loss at Tascosa behind and are now extra-motivated to bring home the spurs for the first time since 2007.

“In a way, it’s a blessing that we have after that tough loss, just because our kids have been pumped up, ready to practice all week, they understand and they know what’s at stake,” said Lubbock High head coach Juan Rodriguez.

The Plainsmen have also spent extra time studying the Westerners, especially since this year’s team is completely different from what they’ve seen in recent years.
