WASHINGTON (KOLN) - A U.S. Air Force employee assigned to the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) at Offutt Air Force Base will spend the next five years and 10 months in prison.
David Slater, 64, pled guilty to conspiring to transmit classified information relating to the national defense on a foreign online dating platform beginning around February 2022 until around April 2022.
In addition to his sentence, Slater was given a $25,000 fine. After his release, he will serve a one-year term of supervised release.
According to court documents, after retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army, Slater worked in a classified space at USSTRATCOM and held a top secret security clearance from around August 2021 until around April 2022.
