EXCLUSIVE: The award-winning documentary WTO/99 has revealed a self-distribution plan that will see the film open December 5 for a week-long run at DCTV’S Firehouse Cinema in New York City. The engagement will qualify the film, directed by Ian Bell and produced by Alex Megaro , for Oscar consideration.

The documentary immerses audiences in the pulse-pounding events in Seattle in 1999 when tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets to demonstrate against the World Trade Organization’s record on the environment, human rights, and labor.

WTO/99 premiered at the True/False film festival in Columbia, MO earlier this year, and won Best Documentary at the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival in California and the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film at the Tallahassee Film Fest
