PIPPA PASSES, Ky. (WSAZ) - Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, KY, is celebrating its homecoming this weekend.

Alumni from throughout the mountains are coming back to their alma mater.

Allison Southard graduated from Alice Lloyd in 2015 and now works at the school.

She says the mountain roots run deep, with 83% of alumni coming back to Appalachia to work and serve after graduating.

Southard also says 40% of Alice Lloyd students are first-generation college students who are now having a critical effect on their communities.
