The newly inaugurated final phase of Metro Line 3 in Mumbai witnessed an impressive response from commuters on its first day of passenger operations, recording a total ridership of 1,56,456 on Thursday, according to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC). The final phase of Mumbai Metro Line 3 was inaugurated on Wednesday.
Passenger numbers surged steadily throughout the day. By 6 PM, 97,846 commuters had traveled on the line, rising to 1,18,286 by 7 PM, and reaching 1,46,087 by 9 PM — indicating strong demand for the new corridor.
According to MMRC officials, Vidhan Bhawan station experienced particularly high footfall during the evening peak hours. To manage crowd movement and ensure commuter safety, one of the station’s seven entry gates was temporarily closed for approximately 10 m
