JEFFERSON COUNTY, OH (WTRF) - On Wednesday evening, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the southern part of the county that led to the seizure of 30 grams of methamphetamine.

During the stop, the Deputy utilized the department’s newest K9, Chapo, who has been on duty for only two weeks. K9 Chapo alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, leading deputies to the discovery of the drugs.

The suspect was taken into custody, and the investigation remains ongoing.

K9 Chapo is a Dutch Shepherd recently obtained by the Sheriff’s Office from Merry K9. Sgt. Scott and K9 Chapo completed their training and certification before being assigned to patrol duty.
