After a long period of division on Rideau Lakes council, tensions finally boiled over at its Oct. 6 meeting.

In the meeting that featured seven integrity commissioner reports, tempers flared, which led to multiple members of the public yelling from the gallery at a group of councillors.

“I’m sorry, but this is enough bull****,” said one member of the gallery, who is a spouse of one of the councillors. “I just can’t believe the behaviour of you five.”

One of the councillors, Deborah Anne Hutchings, raised her voice to the member of the public, crossed the meeting room and confronted the resident face to face, an interaction captured on the council meeting’s video recording.

The resident then told Coun. Hutchings to sit down, and called her “an embarrassment of a councillor.”
