OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A retired Army officer with “top secret” clearance at STRATCOM was sentenced this week in federal court for conspiring against the U.S. government.

Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. David Franklin Slater worked in a classified area of STRATCOM, located at Offutt Air Force Base, from August 2021 until he retired in April 2022.

Earlier this year, he pled guilty for sharing classified information transmitting national defense information on a foreign online dating app to someone he believed was a woman in Ukraine.

According to documents filed Wednesday in Nebraska’s federal court district, Slater pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to disclose national defense information; two other counts filed against him were dismissed.
