PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A local dad is turning one of the most difficult times in his life into a book detailing the journey.

“I’m not going to lie, as I was writing the book, I was crying a lot,” said Chris Worley. “I was reliving the experience.”

Worley’s daughter, Lauren, was struck by a drunk driver in a head-on collision in December 2023. She was 17 years old and the accident happened just down the road from her home in Patrick County.

Lauren sustained a serious brain injury and doctors didn’t think she would survive. But like any other teenager, she walked alongside her classmates at graduation just five months later.
