The disappearance of a 16-year-old Alabama girl more than two years ago is now a homicide investigation.

Jordan Lashelle Fitzpatrick was living with a family member in Tuskegee in April 2023 when she vanished.

The family filed a missing persons report in Tuskegee.

The disappearance seemingly went cold.

In September 2025, remains previously found in Montgomery County were determined to be Jordan. It was not immediately clear when or where the remains were discovered.

Fifth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Segrest on Thursday said Jordan’s death is now being investigated as a homicide.

The Fifth Judicial Circuit includes Macon County, where Jordan disappeared.

“There is an active investigation,” Segrest said. “Expect more information to be released in the upcoming days.”
