Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is expected to miss the start of the 2025-26 NBA season due to injury, ESPN’s Shams Charania reports . The 40-year-old forward is entering his record-setting 23rd NBA season, and is now expected to be sidelined for at least three to four weeks due to sciatica on his right side.
James is coming off of his 21st consecutive NBA All-Star appearance after averaging 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game for the Lakers in 2024-25. In his absence, Los Angeles will likely lean more on fellow All-Star Luka Dončić in his first full season with the team. NBA.com will have more on this developing story soon.
