The Seattle Seahawks have elevated nose tackle Brandon Pili to the 53-man roster, making the signing official on Thursday. Pili spent the first five weeks of the season on the practice squad, where he was first assigned during final roster cuts in August.

Pili did well during the summer, but was pulled from the lineup for the preseason finale after suffering a chest contusion against the Kansas City Chiefs the previous week. Now, Pili is being given a chance to show what he can do with a spot on the active roster as Byron Murphy’s backup.

Wide receiver Cody White was released to accommodate Pili’s roster promotion, being re-signed to the practice squad soon thereafter since he is a vested veteran who is not subject to waivers.
