Mahoning Valley - Two bills passed by the Ohio House are aiming to protect property tax relief. But, both of the bills would impact the amount of money many schools receive.
Brian Knight, the superintendent of Liberty local schools acknowledges there needs to be a change to property taxes, but not at the expense of the schools.
“The biggest piece that it’s going to be is how will we adjust our educational opportunities for our students? There is a risk that you could run into having to increase your class sizes or lessen some of the curriculum opportunities that are available to them,” said Knight. “We were prepared for it. We anticipated within our five year forecast of a potential loss in revenue. So, we’ve been working very hard to make sure we are spending as fluently as possible.”
