COLUMBUS, Ohio. (WSAZ) - On Wednesday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced he had signed an executive order regulating intoxicating hemp sales in the state.
DeWine says he is taking the action because the products are made to look like popular snacks and candies, making them dangerously enticing for children.
During Wednesday’s press conference, DeWine demonstrated the similarities in the packaging.
“Look at these and it’s pretty easy to see,” DeWine said, holding one genuine package that read “Nerds Gummy Clusters” and one deceptive package that read “Nerds Bears.” “This is the candy and this is the intoxicating hemp. Designed clearly, clearly to mimic candy. Designed clearly to entice children to consume these.”
Ohio retailers now have until October 14 to remove these products from
