Austin airport says police responding to 'suspicious item' in terminal

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport said Thursday evening that law enforcement was responding to a "suspicious item."

AUS posted an alert on social media at 6:26 p.m. saying the item was reported in the Barbara Jordan Terminal.

Passengers were being removed from the area at the time of the post, according to AUS.

The post said that drivers in the area should expect traffic congestion and delays.
