CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) — Being a college transfer isn’t easy for everyone, and Northern Iowa defensive lineman Owen Ostroski found that out this past offseason.
“It’s very hectic in the portal and it’s stressful at times,” Ostroski said.
UNI had some familiarity for the Tulsa transfer. His older brother Jackson is the assistant offensive line coach for the Panthers. Jackson had seen his brother dominate as a high school teammate in Oklahoma.
“We had one year together. He was top-10 in the state as a 14-year-old,” Jackson said.
While Jackson wanted Owen to be a Panther, he gave some space during the recruiting process.
“He said, ‘I want you to go wherever makes you happy,’” Owen said.
With that breathing room, Owen made his decision. Jackson received the news during a staff meeting.
