The BBC has revealed first-look images for their upcoming adaptation of William Golding's tragic and iconic 1954 novel Lord of the Flies. In the novel, a group of young boys are stranded on an island following a plane crash, and are left to fend for themselves. While there have been multiple film adaptations of Lord of the Flies, this upcoming iteration of the story is the first made for television. The longer format should allow for a more faithful adaptation of the book, giving more time to explore the characters and dark themes of the book in a way that a feature-length movie couldn't.
