PITTSBURGH —

The home of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers will get thousands of new seats.

The Sports & Exhibition Authority board has approved $6 million for the first phase of seat replacements that will swap out more than 22,000 mostly original seats. Advertisement

That funding comes from ticket surcharges.

The stadium, which opened in 2001, has more than 68,000 seats.
