MILL CITY, Ore. — The Linn County Sheriff's Office has released the name of an 18-year-old who went missing this week near the North Santiam River, near the Mill City Bridge. He has been identified as Karandeep Singh, according to Sheriff Michelle Duncan.

The sheriff's office released additional information on Friday surrounding his disappearance. Singh was last seen on Oct. 7 around 10 p.m., walking with several friends near the North Santiam River. He did not know how to swim, but had been in the shallow waters of the river before, according to the sheriff's office.

Singh told his friends he would get into the river. They attempted to stop him, and he jumped in an area of the river that was much deeper than where he swam before. Two of his friends went into the river to save him, but l
