DeKalb won the final match of the night at the Carroll Regional final on Thursday, claiming victory in a three-set match at No. 1 singles, but it was too late to change the final outcome.
The host Chargers had already claimed victory at each of the other positions to secure a 4-1 victory over the Barons and clinch a regional title.
The No. 14 Chargers have now won back-to-back regional titles, and all three of their regional trophies have been won since 2021.
“It’s awesome. This group of guys have been together for a long time,” Carroll coach Kyle Stoffel said, referring to a championship lineup that includes six juniors and one senior. “They’ve been doing this together, they enjoy each other’s company, and that makes it a lot of fun.”
