The Supreme Court will hear the case regarding the lifting of the permanent ban on firecrackers in Delhi-NCR on Friday. The central government sought time from the court on Wednesday. The Centre said that it would present a report after consulting everyone.

Earlier on September 26, the Supreme Court had approved the manufacturing of NEERI (National Environmental Engineering Research Institute) and PESO (Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation) certified green firecrackers. However, it had stipulated that they should not be sold in NCR without the court's permission.

A bench of Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran is hearing the matter. Balbir Singh, the lawyer for firecracker companies, had sought a hearing before Diwali.
