A Lenoir man was arrested after officers found a horse tied to a tree behind his home, according to a news release.
Officers located the black horse tied to a tree approximately 70 yards behind Holden Miller’s home.
Officials said the horse was lacking food and water and was severely malnourished. The horse died a few days after being seized.
Miller was charged with felony animal cruelty and is being held at the Caldwell County Detention Center without bond.
Miller has been charged with four counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty from two separate incidents in April and June. Since April, nearly 170 animals have been seized from Miller, officials said.
