Bengaluru, Oct 10: The state government has decided in a cabinet meeting to provide 5 kg of rice and additional food grains in place of the 10 kg of rice currently given to BPL and Antyodaya cardholders under the Annabhagya scheme.
The government has launched the Indira Food Kit (Indira – Integrated Nutrition and Food Initiative for the Revitalization of Annabhagya Beneficiaries). Under this plan, beneficiaries will receive 5 kg of rice instead of 10 kg, and in place of the remaining 5 kg, they will be given an Indira Food Kit containing 1 kg each of toor dal, green gram, sugar, and salt, along with 1 litre of cooking oil.
Minister H K Patil stated that this decision was taken to prevent misuse of the Annabhagya rice distribution.
