Israel’s government on Friday ratified a ceasefire deal with Hamas, paving the way to stop fighting in Gaza within the next 24 hours. The agreement also includes freeing Israeli hostages within three days.
The cabinet gave its approval early Friday, a day after mediators announced the deal. Under the plan, part of US President Donald Trump’s peace initiative, Israel will release Palestinian prisoners and gradually withdraw its troops from Gaza, ending the two-year war.

In a post on X, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “The government has just now approved the framework for the release of all of the hostages – the living and the deceased.”
