As he prepares to publish his 13th book, the celebrity cook talks about midlife, school meals, ‘Auberginegate’, the LA fires, and his decision to pull back on putting his children online

“I am so on board for my midlife crisis,” Donal Skehan says, gesturing proudly towards a collection of 35 wibbly clay dishes drying on a windowsill in his kitchen.

The celebrity chef and Weekend food columnist turns 40 next year, and crafting the bowls helps him unwind and find a “state of flow”.
