(KBTX) - This week’s KBTX Sports and Momentum Bank Classroom Champion is Ava Bessette from Iola High School.

Bessette has a 4.12 grade point average and ranks 2nd in her class. She is a member of the All A-Honor roll, is a National Honor Society officer, a Student Council officer, and scored first place on her journalism team.

Away from school, Ava is involved with the Make a Christmas Happen Fundraiser and volunteers at her local animal shelter.

“I try to be a positive leader”, said Bessette. “I know that that’s what I would want if that’s what I wanted whenever I was a freshman. So I know how intimidating school and athletics can be. So I try to be as positive as I can because in the end, volleyball is just a game of mistakes.”
