LA PUENTE – The La Puente football team was disappointed with a first round loss in the CIF Southern Section playoffs last season, and has plenty of motivated players that returned hoping to have another opportunity.

La Puente took a big step toward playoff contention with a 47-19 victory over Bassett on Thursday, a win it desperately needed after opening the Miramonte League with a loss to Ganesha last week.

La Puente improved to 4-3 and 1-1 in league action.

“Today we came together as a group,” La Puente coach Erick Morales said . “We had a tough loss against Ganesha and we are just bouncing back. We had to hit the ground running. W tell [our players] we have to approach every week likes it’s a playoff week, we’re fighting for a playoff berth.”
