Karisma Kapoor's Children Accuse Stepmother of Greed

NEW DELHI: In a contentious inheritance dispute over Sunjay Kapur's assets, his children from ex-wife Karisma Kapoor have accused their stepmother, Priya Kapur, of greed. During a hearing at the Delhi High Court, they likened her to "Cinderella's stepmother," claiming she is attempting to usurp their father's wealth through a forged will. The assets in question are reportedly valued at Rs 30,000 crore.

The allegations were presented by senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Samaira and Kiaan Raj. He stated, "She (Priya) has made these children the cynosure of every kidnapper's dream," highlighting concerns for their safety due to the public disclosure of their potential inheritance. Jethmalani further claimed that Priya is set to receive 60% of the assets and 75% of the family trust, questioning her motives and actions.

The court was informed that Priya is a nominee holding the assets, and Jethmalani argued there is substantial evidence to investigate the authenticity of the will. He asserted that Sunjay did not consult a lawyer when drafting the will, which raises doubts about its legitimacy. He noted that the executor of the will received it just a day before its reading, suggesting possible foul play.

The court had previously allowed Priya to submit a list of Sunjay's assets in a sealed cover and advised all parties to refrain from sharing details with the media. Priya's counsel countered the claims, stating that the children had already received Rs 1,900 crore from the family trust, questioning what more they wanted.

The hearing will continue on October 13, as the court seeks to resolve the ongoing dispute over the substantial estate.
