Srinagar: The body of one of the two soldiers missing in the Kokernag forests in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district since Monday was recovered on Thursday.

The elite paratrooper from the 5 Para SF unit is suspected to have died of hypothermia after being exposed to extreme cold. A search for his companion is continuing. ADVERTISEMENT

According to officials, the body of the soldier was found inside the dense forests of Gadole in Kokernag. His backpack and service weapon were found by his side. The paratrooper’s identity has not been revealed as yet.
