Foreign Minister Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting with the Taliban's Foreign Minister in the capital Delhi.

India will reopen its embassy in Afghanistan. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said on Friday that India would convert its technical mission in Kabul into an embassy.

He made this announcement during a bilateral meeting with the Taliban government's acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi. India had closed its embassy in 2021 after the Taliban came to power.

No national flags were used during the meeting between Jaishankar and Muttaqi. India has not yet recognised the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
