SUMMERVILLE — Hundreds of fans packed into a Lowcountry Harris Teeter store Oct. 9 for a chance to meet country music star and Charleston native Darius Rucker, who was on hand to promote his newly launched One Cru Wines.

A group of Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office deputies stood nearby as the singer greeted the throng from a table set up in the supermarket’s wine section, shaking hands, signing bottles and posing for photos.

“I’m never going to open it,” said Summerville resident Patricia Baum, who waited an hour and a half at the store near the Nexton development for Rucker to sign the cabernet sauvignon she’d picked out.
