Fueled by record-breaking generosity from the Las Vegas dining community, Three Square food bank has raised more than $400,000 through this year’s Las Vegas Restaurant Week — enough to fund 1.2 million meals for Southern Nevadans facing hunger.

The total eclipses last year’s mark by about $22,000 and was funded by more than 64,000 diners, the organization said Wednesday.

The event, which ran from June 2 to June 13, involved more than 250 restaurants offering special prix fixe menus. The participating restaurants, in turn, donate a portion of their earnings to Three Square.

The influx of cash comes at a critical time for Three Square, which has been sounding the alarm about federal cuts’ effects on food insecurity.
